2017 Winter meeting notes

We had a very robust showing at our winter meeting on Jan. 5. I don’t know if it was the lure of pizza or good company, but whatever it was, I hope we can do it again soon.

A few general notes from our meeting:

  • We will be meeting at least once, maybe twice before old bird racing begins in April. When we meet in March, we will be asking for a commitment from the old bird flyers and that they pay their racing fees then. Many flyers are understandably undecided right now, but for the sake of budgeting, we will be asking for payment of fees well in advance of our first race this year.
  • It is possible we could have 6-12 flying members in old birds this year, but we will be more spread out than ever. It will be an interesting challenge for all.
  • We will continue to pursue engaging with the Louisville clubs to combine with them on the longest races.
  • We will be making an effort to hire our own driver in order to alleviate concerns over shipping limits and other questions that come with shipping with another club.
  • We will again have an invitation-only young bird auction race. Auctions will be on old bird shipping nights.
  • If you missed the meeting, please pay your AU dues to Fred ASAP. If you are eligible to buy bands from the club, please also get with Fred ASAP.
