Stephenson wins his first race and John James earns his first diploma. It was a fairly tight race!

Results: It was a very close race among the four lofts competing. Only 9 minutes separated the first birds at each loft. David Stephenson broke his maiden on this race with a blue-check cock given to him by Bob Zerkle as a fledgling last year to help get his loft started. Also notable is that John James earned his first diploma this race as well.

Update: 40-something birds were release Saturday morning at 6:30 from Oneida by Bob Zerkle. Clocks will be opened at 7 p.m. on Monday at Richard’s.

Shipping for the 100-mile race from Oneida, Tn. will be Friday night at 6 p.m. for the Saturday race. This race replaces the 500-mile race listed on the schedule. Most if not all of the club members did not feel that enough of their birds were ready for the 500-mile trip.

Decatur OB race, May 24, 2009 (250 mi)

UPDATE: Due to a poor weather forecast, the Decatur race has been canceled. A decision will be made later as to whether or not it will be rescheduled. The 500 for next week is as scheduled as of this writing, but there is some discussion among the club members that we may opt out of flying the 500 with the Highview Club in favor of a 100-mile LRPC race.

The club will meet at Richard’s house on Saturday night to ship birds for the Decatur race. Clocks will be set at 6 p.m. so the driver can get on the road no later than 6:30.

Columbia OB race, May 17, 2009 (200 mi)

Congrats to Alberto who finished one-two and also won the pool this week with his first bird.

Congrats to Alberto who finished one-two and also won the pool this week with his first bird. The Bacon/Casey bird in 11th place was their pool bird and will not be counted in final results, moving Sulham's bird up the list.

RESULTS: Seventy-five birds from eight lofts were released Sunday morning from Greenbrier, which was 150-190 miles depending on which end you were on. Alberto’s birds performed well again, as did Bob Zerkle’s. The Bacon/Casey loft moved up the chart this week – congrats to them as well.

UPDATE FROM BOB ZERKLE: Due to excessive head winds the birds were brought back to Greenbrier, Tenn. for release.  This is the 135 mile release point.  They will be released at 9:15 AM 5/17/09.

As of now, we will gather at Richard Green’s on Saturday, May 16, to ship birds to Louisville. Clocks will be cranked at 6:00 so the driver can leave by 6:30. Please be at Richard’s well before 6:00 so we can get the driver out on time.

This is a 200 mile race.

Oneida OB race, May 10, 2009 (100 mi)

Congrats (again) to Bob Zerkle for a one-two finish this week. The Zerkle and Ramirez birds that are striked from the list are their pool birds, so they are not counted in the race results. Other entries will move up a notch accordingly.

Seven lofts gathered on May 9 to ship 82 birds to Oneida for the Sunday, May 10 race. John James reports that he released the birds at 6:30 a.m. under mostly clear conditions. Wind in Lexington at the time was NW at 3mh.

Congratulations to everyone who came out to race. It was nice to have seven members ship birds!

Feel free to comment/respond below when your birds come in Sunday morning.
